YOU THINK FOILING sailboats are new? The Monitor (a different one) was built in 1958. Because it was built "pre carbon fiber" it was heavy... it weighed 800 pounds. So it wouldn't lift completely up out of the water until the winds got up to 13 knots or more. But it was once clocked at 35 miles per hour. In sailing, there really is nothing new under the sun.
